Making a DIY Jewelry Box
In this article, we will show you how to make a beautiful and functional jewelry box from scratch. Follow our step-by-step guide to create a one-of-a-kind piece that will protect and display your jewelry collection.
Materials
Before you get started, you will need to gather the following materials:
Wood (we recommend using a hardwood like oak or cherry)
Wood glue
Sandpaper (in various grits)
Saw
Drill
Screws
Hinges
Latch
Felt (for lining the inside of the box)
Steps
Cut the wood to size. You will need to cut six pieces of wood: four for the sides and two for the top and bottom. Make sure the sides are the same height and the top and bottom are the same width.
Sand the wood. Use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges or surfaces.
Drill holes for the screws. You will need to drill the holes for the screws that will hold the sides together. Make sure the holes are evenly spaced and at the same depth.
Glue the sides together. Apply wood glue to the edges of the wood and clamp them together until the glue dries.
Attach the top and bottom. Use your drill to attach the top and bottom to the sides.
Install the hinges and latch. Use your drill to attach the hinges and latch to the box.
Line the inside of the box with felt. Cut a piece of felt to size and glue it to the inside of the box.
Now you have a beautiful and functional jewelry box that you can proudly display your collection in. Enjoy!
