The summer is when people most often move into a new home. In their planning, many people overlook the importance of taking care of valuables.
With or without moving, jewelry is a common item to be cared for. The chaos of packing, moving, and loading the truck can lead to jewelry theft, loss and damage.
The jewelry boxes are needed at the moment.
Keep these tips in mind when you are planning your next trip:
1. Always keep your valuables in the box for jewelry. When moving, do not leave your valuable jewelry in the moving boxes left by movers.
2. Do not store your jewellery at random. It is often lost or stolen.
3. When you are doing heavy lifting, remove jewelry and keep jewelry boxes to avoid damage such as bent or scratched bandings or chips in stones.
4. Pack earrings, bracelets, and necklaces carefully. Separately pack items to prevent tangling or scratches.
5. Keeping track of your possessions is important. Make a list with the details of every item, including serial numbers if any. Take photos of them. Two copies are needed; one for you to keep with you and another on your box.
6. The most common reason for jewelry loss is that people do not store their jewellery properly.
In a poll we conducted in May 2012, we found that 43 percent of married women who lost jewelry had lost rings. Next in line are bracelets and earrings (20%), and necklaces (17%).
You can do a lot to protect your jewellery when you move to a new location, but nothing will give you the same level of security as putting them into specialized jewely boxes.
